Welcome to Charmed Shih Tzu! We hope you take a look around and get to know our family members a little; both the four-legged and the two-legged ones!

Hi there! My name is Bethany Theulen, and I have been a bit of an animal "fanatic" for as long as I can remember. My first memories with animals are with a family dog that my family had gotten when I was an infant. I loved her and my mom often told me of how tolerant she was of me, because I was obsessed with her. When I was 4 or 5 years old, I rescued a tiny kitten from our neighbor's tree and brought her into my room, where my dad was adamant that we couldn't keep her. Well, he lost that argument to my endless persistence.

At 16, I got my first job: cleaning kennels in an animal hospital. A few years later I moved up to Veterinary Technician, which I did for almost 20 more years, when I wasn't at home having babies. I spent almost 10 years working in a 24-hour emergency and critical care facility, where I quickly learned I was an "adrenaline junkie". I briefly tried to go back to a regular day practice clinic, as the hours were better, but that did not last long, and I was back to emergency.

I began breeding Shih Tzu in 2006, and I absolutely love doing it! I enjoy meeting the new families, and I love caring for our new babies when we have litters. After developing inflammatory arthritis, and having a baby just before I turned 41, my body could no longer handle emergency work. I enrolled at Grand Canyon University, and I am currently almost done with completing my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Our dogs, along with the rest of the menagerie, continue to be one of the most gratifying parts of my life, only second to my human family and children. Rarely are our furry family members left on their own. There is almost always someone home, which is a huge blessing when we have small puppies.

We look forward to helping you find your new, best Shih Tzu companion!
